IBM 704 Electronic Data Processing Machine (1953)
The IBM 704 Electronic Data Processing Machine was an upgraded version of the 701. The 704 was announced on May 7, 1953, with CRT memory. By October, IBM announced that the 704 would have magnetic core memory. The 704 was several times faster than the 701. The IBM 704 is sometimes considered to have been the world's first super-computer. |
